Netflix Orders Anime Set in Mexico ‘Seis Manos’
Netflix has ordered a new anime to be produced by Viz Media LLC and Powerhouse Animation who produced another Netflix anime Castlevania. The new anime, titled Seis Manos will be Netflix’s first original anime series that is to be set in Mexico.
Seis Manos anime series is set in Mexico during the 1970s era. The show follows three orphaned martial arts warriors who team up with a DEA agent and a Mexican Federale in order to fight for justice after their mentor was wrongfully killed.
On the team for this show include Powerhouse Animation CEO Brad Graeber, writer Alvaro Rodriguez (Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), and Dan Dominguez (Captain Underpants, Spongebob Squarepants, Crash and Bernstein). On board to direct the anime series is Willis Bulliner (Agents of Mayhem, storyboards for Castlevania).
Powerhouse CEO Brad Graeber and writer Alvaro Rodriguez (Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series). Also a writer on the series is Dan Dominguez (Captain Underpants, Spongebob Squarepants, Crash and Bernstein). The series will be directed by Willis Bulliner (Agents of Mayhem,storyboards on Netflix’s Castlevania).
The series will also be Viz Media’s first original animated property. Director of Japan & Anime for Netflix, John Derderian said, “We’re excited to be working with such a fantastic group of animators and storytellers to produce our first original anime series set in Mexico. […] Our Mexican subscribers, and viewers in Latin America more broadly, have a tremendous passion for anime. We look forward to sharing this completely unique series with them, and with the growing community of anime fans around the world.”
