The MCU is having a successful 2018 thus far, including their first film to focus on a Black superhero with the record breaking, Ryan Coogler directed, Black Panther. Next year, they hope to make more history with their first female-led superhero film with Captain Marvel.

Anyone who knows Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel knows that she used to go by the name Ms. Marvel. However, in 2014, a Pakistani-American Muslim girl named, Kamala Khan took on the mantle. Khan, a New Jersey native, realizes she’s an Inhuman with shapeshifting abilities and takes on the past persona of her idol, Carol Danvers. Now, it seems as though the MCU has some plans in store for the young superhero.

During a recent interview with BBC, Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, told the interviewer, “Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.”

Created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona, Khan has now become one of Marvel Comics’ most beloved characters and marked the first time that a Muslim superhero from Marvel Comics headlined their own comic book.

Would you like to see Kamala Khan enter the MCU? Be sure to let us know in the comment section below.

Although “definitely sort of” does not really say too much of anything at all, hopefully it means we will get to see Kamala Khan on the big screen sooner, rather than later!
