ABC Renews ‘Fresh Off The Boat’ For A Fifth Season

ABC and 20th Century Fox has ordered a fifth season for Fresh Off The Boat. The series, based off Eddie Huang’s memoir, first aired in 2015. The show focuses on the “Huang family — Mom, Dad, three young brothers and their Mandarin-speaking grandma — who move from Washington, D.C., to Orlando in the mid-1990s. ”

Deadline reports that Fresh Off The Boat will join Modern Family and Speechless as the shows renewed by the network.

Created by Nahnatchka Khan based on the memoir by Eddie Huang, the single-camera Fresh Off the Boat premiered in February 2015 as the first Asian-American family comedy on TV in two decades. It has aired in various slots on Tuesday night, most recently at 8:30 PM this past fourth season, which wrapped on March 20, averaging a 1.3 adults 18-49 Live+7 rating.

Fresh Off The Boat stars Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler and Ian Chen.
