Nintendo Switch’s Long-Awaited Online Service Brings Free Games and Cloud Saves

Nintendo Switch Online is launching September with a base price of $19.99 per year.

The subscription-based online service will come with three separate pricing plans. For individual membership plans, players can pay $3.99, $7.99, or $19.99 for 1, 3, or 12 months of service. For Nintendo families, a family membership will also be offered for $34.99. This family membership will allow the main Nintendo account holder to add up to seven others to access Nintendo Switch Online all under one plan.

Features listed among the service are online gameplay, cloud backups, special offers, and NES – Nintendo Switch Online. Launching the same day as the online service, subscribers will gain access to 20 classic NES titles. Whether it’s online or passing a controller while sitting side-by-side, each game will include multiplayer functionality allowing players to compete or cooperate with a friend. As of now the full list hasn’t been revealed but so far the following games have been confirmed:

  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Donkey Kong™
  • Mario Bros.™
  • Super Mario Bros.™
  • Balloon Fight™
  • Ice Climber™
  • Dr. Mario™
  • The Legend of Zelda™
  • Super Mario Bros.™ 3

Although the service is not set to release until September, starting on May 15th we will be able to set up our accounts and establish our family groups in preparation for launch.
