Though no script is readily available, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is described in the Cannes market catalog as “The Good. The Bad. And the Batshit cray.” Although the casting hasn’t yet been confirmed, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are believed to be reprising their roles, along with Patrick Hughes hopeful return to the director’s chair. Tom O’Connor – currently known for writing the original Cannes’ hot market title Ironbark, starring Benedict Cumberbatch – is working on the follow-up.
The Millennium Films original 2017 film starring Reynolds, Jackson, alongside Gary Oldman and Salma Hayek, emerged a global smash, topping the U.S. box office for three straight weeks and earning an overall $177 million from a $30 million budget.
