Ryan Knighton is adapting Michelle Adelman’s novel Piece of Mind for Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. Daisy Ridley is in talks for the lead role.

Daisy Ridley in Ophelia
Knighton is a New York Times contributing columnist and is a Sundance Lab screenwriting fellow. He recently adapted Inside the O’Briens, for No Trace Camping, with Brett Haley attached to direct.
Adelman’s novel follows Lucy, a troubled 27-year-old woman who sustained a traumatic brain injury when she was 3. Lucy knows a ton about coffee, comic books, Gus (the polar bear at the Central Park Zoo), and has a rare gift for drawing. Unfortunately, she has a difficult time relating to people and can’t hold down a job. Unexpected circumstances force her to move in with her college-aged brother. During her stay with her brother, Lucy discovers that she has strengths she wasn’t aware of.
Ridley recently voiced Cottontail in Peter Rabbit and reprised her role as Rey in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Her latest project Ophelia is the re-telling of Hamlet from Ophelia’s perspective.
