#SOTD: Gladius James ft. Wiz Khalifa – Rich

New Zealand singer/songwriter Gladius James is starting to make some noise in the R&B/Soul world. After a couple of years producing and writing for artists in his native New Zealand, he moved from Auckland to Los Angeles, in 2014. Within a few months, he was working with a variety of established artists, earning credit for his work with Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony and others. In 2017, James embarked on a solo career, releasing his first EP, “Revelation”. Its first single, the glitchy-yet-sultry “Too Bad”, established James as an artist to watch in the coming year.

On the buttery “Rich”, James teams up with stoner extraordinaire Wiz Khalifa and the chemistry between the two artists is immediately apparent. Together, the pair delivers a smoothed-out slow jam, reminiscent of the 90’s era, that pays respect to the significant others who make us feel “rich”, through how they make us feel inside:

When I’m with you, I’m rich
Don’t need no money, I’m rich
All I need is your loving, your kiss
‘Cause when I’m with you, I’m rich

You can buy or stream “Rich” on a variety of music services, including Spotify, Apple Music or Google Music.

I'm a hardcore tech geek that works for one of Canada's largest software companies. I have a passion for cultivating and publicizing the diversity in geek culture. Most of my days are spent in the tech world, analyzing data, troubleshooting app/server issues, designing/illustrating and writing code. Ball is life and the Lakers will rise again (don't @ me). Passing me the AUX cord is like passing Picasso a paintbrush. Just so you know, I'm your music plug's plug. One part geek, one part jock, six parts One Punch Man.
