Casting for the sequel to Disney’s 2014 story based on Sleeping Beauty’s villain, Maleficent, is well underway and Academy Award nominated actress, Michelle Pfeiffer is in ‘advanced’ talks to join the cast.

According to Variety, if the deal goes through, Pfeiffer will play the queen in the film but other details on the character are scarce for now.

Pfeiffer will join Angelina Jolie who will reprise her role as the vengeful fairy, Maleficent and Elle Fanning who will reprise her role as Princess Aurora. It was also announced earlier this month that Ed Skrein would play the film’s villain.

Directed by Joachim Ronning, production for the sequel is set to begin this year, but there’s no official release date set.
