Amma Asante In Talks To Direct ‘Black Widow’ Film
With Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe getting closer to its epic conclusion, many fans are wondering what we can expect in Phase Four. MCU head Kevin Feige is keeping things much more tight lipped than usual, but what we do know is that an unconfirmed but highly possible Black Widow solo film may be on the horizon.
Rumor has it that the solo film may have found its director as well. It is being reported that Belle and A United Kingdom director, Amma Asante, has been in talks to helm the project. Many Hollywood studios have been diligently seeking more female representation behind the camera on the heel of the #MeToo Movement.
Asante being hired is most definitely appropriate with Black Widow having the potential to be the second female-led Marvel film. Perhaps having a woman in the director’s chair will evolve the charatcer beyond the typical tropes the character has been accused of portraying in the films as of late. Nothing has been officially confirmed but we will keep you updated as more details are revealed. Are you a fan of Amma Asante’s work? Excited for a Black Widow solo film?
