Ubisoft’s Film Adaptation of ‘The Division’ Picks Up ‘Deadpool 2’ Director David Leitch
Despite the reception of 2016’s Assassin’s Creed film, Ubisoft is still pushing to create movie adaptations of their hottest franchises. It has recently been uncovered that their next film project, The Division, will be directed by David Leitch following his work on Deadpool 2.
Leitch will be directing Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain, who have been a part of the planning stages of the project since day one. Now that a director is attached to The Division, the film is expected to begin filming in 2019, after Leitch concludes his next project, an untitled Fast and Furious spin-off starring Dwane Johnson and Jason Statham
The Division is a movie that may very well succeed in making the jump to film. The game’s story is set in a near future New York City after a pandemic is spread throughout the city disrupted by paper money during a Black Friday sale. With the city now in disarray, a group of undercover agents rise to the occasion to salvage what’s left of civilization.
Ubisoft is expected to reveal more about the recently announced sequel to The Division 2 game at E3 this June. What do you think about an adaptation of The Division? Let us know in the comments or come chat with us on in our community Discord!
