Stranger Things Season 3 Adds Cary Elwes And Jake Busey
Hawkins has some new residents. Casting for Stranger Things season 3 has been ramping up, with the show having tapped acting veterans Cary Elwes and Jake Busey.
Elwes will be playing Mayor Kline, who is described as “handsome, slick, and sleazy.” He is “your classic ’80s politician — more concerned with his own image than with the people of the small town he governs”, according to Netflix.
Busey, known for Starship Troopers and Contact, joins season 3 as Bruce, a journalist for the The Hawkins Post “with questionable morals and a sick sense of humor.” Busey can be seen later this September in Shane Black’s The Predator.
The series has become known for its use of popular ’80s actors, with Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, and the additions of Sean Astin as Bob Newby and Paul Reiser as Sam Owens in season 2.
Executive producer Shawn Levy has teased season 3 will be “big and spooky”. Priah Ferguson, who plays Lucas’ sister Erica, has been upped to series regular for season 3 and Maya Thurman-Hawke has also joined as “alternative girl” Robin.
