Constance Wu and Jackie Chan to Star in Animated Film ‘Wish Dragon’
Constance Wu and Jackie Chan will lead the U.S. cast of Sony’s upcoming animated feature Wish Dragon.
They will join Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Crouching Tiger, The Greatest Showman), Will Yun Lee (The Good Doctor), Nico Santos (Superstore), and Bobby Lee (The Dictator). Star Trek star John Cho and Silicon Valley‘s Jimmy O. Yang are also in talks to join. The film is being helmed by director Chris Appelhans, and produced by Aron Warner (The Book of Life, Shrek) and Chris Bremble.
Wish Dragon is described as a modern re-telling of the classic Genie in a bottle story from 1001 Nights—a reminder that love, family and friends are not things that can be wished for.
Wu is starring in the film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s best-selling novel Crazy Rich Asians that hits theaters this August, and Chan recently voiced the lead character in The Lego Ninjago Movie.
Wish Dragon is eyeing a 2019 theatrical release in China and the U.S., but it has plans for an international release as well.
