‘Arrow’ Finds New Showrunner for Seventh Season
In addition to being renewed for a seventh season, CW superhero series Arrow will also be seeing some major shakeups behind the scenes in the production for its upcoming season.
longtime Arrow staff member Beth Schwartz will be wearing a new hat as she takes the positions of executive producer and shower for season 7. Showrunners for season six Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle will have different roles as well with Guggenheim becoming an executive consultant, while Mericle will be leaving the show.
Schwartz initially started at Greg Berlanti’s production company when she served as his assistant on Everwood. She joined Arrow in season 1 as a writers’ assistant and eventually worked her way up the ladder to an executive producer position for season 6. When questioned, Berlanti had this to say:
“We are all so incredibly thrilled to announce Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner of Arrow. She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter.”
