Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘DuckTales’ Debut Set For May

Back in May of 2017, it was revealed by the DuckTales Twitter account that Lin-Manuel Miranda would be voicing fan-favorite character Gizmoduck in the new TV series. Now, one year later, Miranda will be making his debut as the superhero in “Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!” on May 11. Also announced was the show’s move from Disney XD to Disney Channel for its second season.

In the original series, Fenton Crackshell was an account who comes across a high-powered robot suit and becomes the hero known as Gizmoduck. The character has been reimagined for the new series by executive producer Matt Youngberg and co-producer & story editor Francisco Angones as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera. They went on to say, “Gizmoduck is Duckburg’s preeminent hero. In our introduction to the character, who has Latin roots, the brilliant young scientist Fenton is recruited by Launchpad who is feeling menaced by tech genius Mark Beaks’ newest invention.”

On getting to be apart of the series, Miranda said, “I’m really excited that a new generation of kids will be growing up with DuckTales. As a huge fan of the original series, I love that I can share this new version with my sons.”
