Antonique Smith Joins Season 2 of ‘Luke Cage’
Grammy-nominated singer and actress Antonique Smith is officially joining Netflix’s Luke Cage.
Smith will be playing a new character named Nandi Tyler–a detective who will reportedly not be getting along with Simone Missick’s Misty Night. The two have known each other since they were in high school, and their strained relationship intensifies when Tyler takes over Night’s position after she (spoiler alert for The Defenders) loses her hand.
It is unclear whether Nandi Tyler’s intentions are good, or what her relationship with Luke will be like, but it appears that her role will be a sizable one. Smith has been in the music industry for a while now, but she is slowly breaking into the acting world. She previously worked with Luke Cage creator and showrunner Cheo Hodari on the 2009 movie Notorious, where she played R&B singer Faith Evans.
Marvel’s Luke Cage returns June 22nd, 2018.
