Ellen Shanman to Adapt ‘The Hidden Girl’ for Studio 8
Ellen Shanman has been hired to adapt the sci-fi thriller, The Hidden Girl, which is based on the short story from author Ken Liu. Liu has published over 100 stories and has won the Nebula, Hugo, and World Fantasy awards. The Hidden Girl is a story inspired by an acient Chinese myth about a team of women assassins who travel across dimensions and one young girl’s journey as an assassin.
Shanman has also recently adapted Gallagher Girls for Paramount and the Japanese cult anime series Tiger & Bunny for Imagine Entertainment. In addition she has adapted New York Times‘ bestseller Nothing Daunted for Black Label Media, and the superhero novel The Brokenhearted for New Line Cinema and Alloy Entertainment
The Hidden Girl property was acquired by Studio 8 almost two years ago. Jessica Switch and Chris Goldberg will oversee the film for Studio 8 and Rishi Rajani, will also oversee the film during the creative process. Studio 8 believes the film will feel similar to both Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Interstellar.
