It looks like the 80’s are back and are here to stay. Sony Pictures is in the early stages of producing their remake of the critically acclaimed 1985 courtroom thriller Jagged Edge, which will star Halle Barry as the front woman.

According to Deadline, the film is one of current priorities and they have begun their search for the right writer to pen the script. Matti Leshem and Doug Belgrad will produce the film and Scott Strauss will oversee for Sony studios.

The original script tells the story of a San Francisco heiress who is brutally murdered in her remote beach house. Her husband Jack extremely shocked by the murder, but is also accused of committing the gruesome crime. He hires lawyer Teddy Barnes to defend him, and their chemistry together leads them to fall in love.

It is unclear whether or not the remake of the film will follow the same plot as the original.
