Nat Geo is Developing a ‘Hidden Figures’ Series

It’s just been announced that Nat Geo will produce a tv show based on the 2016 biographical drama film Hidden Figures, which told the true story about the black female mathematicians who were instrumental in the beginning of America’s space program. The film ended up being nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress and Best-Adapted Screenplay and grossed about $236 million at the box office, more than quadrupling it’s $25 million budget.

The series, which is reportedly in the very early stages of development, will be executive produced by Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping in addition to National Geographic. Both Chernin and Topping also served as executive producers on the film.

There is currently no information on when we could expect the show to air if greenlighted or if any of the actors in the film will be involved. The series is expected to be scripted.
