‘Ready Player One’ Earns $40.3 Million Globally in Two Days
Steven Spielberg’s latest flick, Ready Player One is already making waves at the box office just two days into its theatrical run.
The Warner Bros. film made $40.3 million thus far, $14.6 million of that came from China’s box office which is the third-highest debut for a Warner Bros. movie of all time. Domestically, Ready Player One made $12 million from its Thursday night previews.
Based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Cline, Ready Player One follows Wade Watts, his friends and his enemies on a quest for three keys which will help unlock a special gaming easter egg that was placed in the virtual reality world of the OASIS. The finder of all three keys and the easter egg will win the famed creator, James Halliday’s fortune and control over the entire OASIS.
