Michael Showalter to Direct Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer Holiday Comedy
After his massive hit The Big Sick director Michael Showalter has been tapped to direct his next project, an unnamed Universal Holiday Comedy starring Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spenser.
The film will follow two women fighting the elements to make it home in time for Christmas.
The film will be a reunion for Chastain and Spenser after their massive critical hit “The Help” which won Spenser an Oscar for best supporting actress.
Showalter has directed several episodes of Netflix’s hit series “Love” and “Grace and Frankie,” and TBS’ “Search Party.” He also recently directed the film “My Name is Doris.”
Chastain and Kelly Carmichael have penned the screenplay and “Crazy Rich Asians” writer Peter Chiarelli is on board to write the script. Chastain will also produce alongside her company Freckle Films with Maven Pictures. Carmichael, Celine Rattray, and Trudie Styler also producing.
