As promised at the end of last year, EA is going to be reimplementing microtransactions for Star Wars Battlefront II, this time with the caveat that they’ll only be going towards cosmetic upgrades. When the game first released in November 2017, fans spoke out against the game’s previous system, which allowed players to accelerate their progress throughout the game with microtransactions.

EA has announced that there will be changes to the game’s system, starting on March 21, naming this the Progression Update. To begin, all progression in the game is now linear, and items that impact gameplay can only be earned through gameplay. Players will get to keep everything that they’ve earned and unlocked thus far.

Starting in April, players will be able to get appearances either through in-game Credits, or through Crystals. Crates will also no longer contain Star Cards, and cannot be purchased. Instead, players earn crates by completing milestones, like daily logins or timed challenges.

Are these changes enough to redeem EA for the game’s botched release? Let us know how you feel in the comments!
