DeWanda Wise will no longer be playing a role opposite Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson in Captain Marvel.

According to Deadline, sources close to production state that Wise has exited the role due to scheduling conflicts in regards to the Netflix series, She’s Gotta Have It. In the series based on Spike Lee’s film of the same name, Wise plays lead character, Nola Darling.

Wise’s role in the upcoming MCU flick was never revealed by Marvel Studios, though many speculated that the actress would portray Monica Rambeau a.k.a Photon, who later became Captain Marvel herself. There is no news yet on which actress will be cast as Wise’s replacement.
