The film is a Pulp Fiction-esque tapestry set in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood, around the time of the murder of Tate and several others in a killing spree ordered by Charles Manson.
The ensemble recently added Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and Tom Cruise has been mentioned as also circling the project
DiCaprio will play Rick Dalton, a former Western TV star. Pitt will play Cliff Booth, Rick’s stunt double. Both men are struggling with the shifting Hollywood landscape and the try to find their place to shine again. Sharon Tate will be his famous next door neighbour. No word on who will play Charles Manson, or his other victims. Tarantino has said that the movie will not solely focus on the murders, but that it will be one of many things explored in this era of Hollywood history.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood will be DiCaprio and Pitt’s second collaboration with Tarantino.
Sony Pictures has scheduled the film to come out August 9th 2019.
