Director Tom Hooper & ‘Logan’ Star Dafne Keen Join “His Dark Materials” Adaptation

According to Deadline, Tom Hooper, the Oscar winning director of The King’s Speech, and Dafne Keen, the young girl who starred along side Hugh Jackman in Logan, have recently signed onto BBC One’s adaption of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials.

Hooper has been eager to oversee the adaption for a long time, but has struggled with planning around his current live-action adaption of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Cats. Luckily producer Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner have been able to get him to sign onto their project.

The BBC One series has been written by National Treasure and Wonder writer Jack Thorne. His Dark Materials tells the story of Lyra, who will be played by Dafne Keen, and her adventures in a parallel universe and discovers the truth about her parents while trying to save many worlds and universes from a mysterious force called the Dust.
