Patty Jenkins, Chloe Kim And Katherine Johnson Among the Women Honored By Barbie for International’s Women Day

In honour of International’s Women Day, Barbie is presenting a brand new set of Barbie dolls representing empowering role models, past and present, who inspire girls every day with their work.

Among those women, we can find Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, snowboarding champion Chloe Kim, aviator Amelia Earhart, Mexican painter Frida Kahlo and mathematics pioneer Katherine Johnson, whose work for NASA we’re familiar with thanks to the blockbuster film Hidden Figures.

In a statement, Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and general manager of Barbie, shared why this campaign and the importance it’ll have over little girls all over the world.

“As a brand that inspires the limitless potential in girls, Barbie will be honouring its largest line up of role models timed to International Women’s Day because we know that you can’t be what you can’t see. Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie and we are thrilled to shine a light on real-life role models to remind them that they can be anything,”
