Amazon’s comic book series The Boys is adding Laz Alonso to its growing cast of heroes and vigilantes.

The Boys is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame. It revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

Alonso will be Mother’s Milk, “second in command of the Boys, he’s is a great detective, highly intelligent and observant and an intuitive investigator.”

The series is based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will executive produce and direct, with Eric Kripke (Supernatural, Timeless) writing and producing.

This is the second Ennis property Rogen and Goldberg have adapted for TV, as they have Preacher currently airing on AMC.

Alonso will join previously announced cast members Chace Crawford, Dominique McElligott, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Nathan Mitchell and Jessie T. Usher.
