Gina Rodriguez to Produce and Star in ‘Something Great’ for Netflix
Jane the Virgin‘s Gina Rodriguez has signed on to produce and star in the Netflix romantic comedy Something Great. Creator of MTV’s Sweet/Vicious, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct.
Robinson will also be penning the script which follows a woman who, after a paralyzing break-up, decides to embark on an adventure in New York City with her two best friends before moving across the country for her dream job. Something Great is about growing up, loss, and the power of everlasting female friendships.
Rodriguez will produce via I Can and I Will Productions. Feigco’s Dan Magnante, Likely Story’s Stefanie Azpiazu, as well as Robinson are executive producers for the show. Emily Gibson, also of I Can and I Will, is co-producing.
Paul Feig and Jesse Henderson of Feigco are producing the movie, alongside Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron of Likely Story.
Rodriguez has won a Golden Globe for her role on The CW’s Jane the Virgin, which is now in its fourth season. She is currently starring opposite Natalie Portman in the latest sci-fi project from Alex Garland, Annihilation.
Production for Something Great begins this April.
