‘Black Panther’ Makes $112 Million in Second Weekend, Tops $700 Million Worldwide

Black Panther continues its path to world domination with a record-breaking second weekend estimated to bring in $112 million.

The film only had a 45% drop from its opening weekend, the smallest ever for an MCU movie. Its $112 million is the also the biggest second weekend for a Marvel film, coming in ahead of The Avengers’ 103 million.

Domestically the movie has passed $400 million, bringing its global total to $700 million.

Black Panther is the story of T’Challa as he becomes the King of Wakanda and assumes the title of Black Panther, while protecting his people of usurpers to the throne.

The movie is currently the fourth highest MCU film domestically. If it continues its fast pace it could vault into the number two spot. Right now it is around $60 million behind second place Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Kasumba, Winston Duke, Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett, Black Panther is currently playing in theaters.
