Detective Pikachu’s Newest Trailer Gives a Closer Look at the Private Eye’s Next Mystery

Before Ryan Reynolds’ Detective Pikachu comes to the big screen sometime next year. Nintendo 3DS owners will have their own adventure in perhaps the strangest Pokemon game ever.

On March 23 the localization of Detective Pikachu, originally released on February 3, 2016 in Japan, will finally launch in U.S. and Europe.

The newest trailer sets a dramatic tone, following a young boy named Tim after he collaborates with Detective Pikachu to search for his missing father. While exploring Ryme City for clues, the duo will solve puzzles and interrogate both people and Pokemon to gather leads for the mystery.

All the while this investigation is taking place, Pokemon have been rampaging the city. Possibly related to Mewtwo, who is seen early in the trailer being talked down from launching an attack by our grizzled Pikachu.

Releasing on March 23, Detective Pikachu will be western audiences first extended look at this new take on the beloved character.
