‘Black Panther’ Projected To Do More Than $100 Million in Second Weekend

The success of Marvel’s Black Panther has been breaking records since before its official release last weekend. From its box office numbers to the impression it has had on critics from a plethora of publications, the film is making history that has exceeded the expectations of many.

Now, as reported by Variety, the film will continue to break records as it is projected to make approximately $102 million during its second weekend in North American Theaters which will make it the fourth film to do so in cinema history. Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Marvel’s The Avengers are the only other films to make over $100 million at the box office in their second weekend.

The Ryan Coogler directed blockbuster boasts a predominantly black cast and glamorizes the beauty and complexities of African culture. It is the first of its kind and judging from its critical acclaim and box office numbers, it is deserving of every accolade.
