And the award for biggest opening week by any Marvel film goes to… BLACK PANTHER!!!

That’s right guys, the King of Wakanda is adding another point to his list of film records to break. During its first week, the film has grossed $292 million in its domestic total. The MCU title that held the record before was 2012’s The Avengers which made $270 million in its first week which is about $22 million less.

Some thought the Avengers would hold that record, maintaining the nostalgia of being the MCU’s first ensemble film. But Black Panther isn’t stopping and is continuing to set new standards for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the film industry as a whole.

Are you surprised at the success surrounding Black Panther or are all your expectations coming to fruition? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
