Tiffany Haddish to Voice Lead Character in New Netflix Animated Series ‘Tuca & Bertie’
It seems like expanding their animation roster is on Netflix’s to-do-list for 2018. The streaming giant has provided some memorable animated series like BoJack Horseman, Troll Hunters, Castlevania and many more. But now that list of titles is expanding with a new series created by the minds behind BoJack Horseman.
The series is called Tuca & Bertie and THR has confirmed that breakout star Tiffany Haddish has been cast to voice one of the lead characters, Tuca.
The series will center on the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building. Haddish’s character, Tuca, is described as a cocky and care free Toucan. The character of Bertie has not been cast just yet but is being described as an anxious, day dreaming songbird.
Haddish became a breakout star in the 2017 summer comedy Girls Trip. She went on to write a New York Times Best Seller and has a first look deal with HBO. This animated venture is just another great opportunity she can add to her growing list of accomplishments. The show will be going straight to series with a reported ten episodes in its first season. No premiere date has been announced.
