Lupita Nyong’o Is Set To Star In ‘Born A Crime’ Based On Trevor Noah’s Memoir
Award winner Lupita Nyong’o is set to star in Born a Crime, the film adaptation of Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood, written by Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show.
Lupita will be playing Noah’s mom, Patricia, who was one of the most important figures in her son’s formative years. In 2009 she was shot in the head by his stepfather while returning from a church service but survived.
The film will be produced by Noah through his Ark Angel Productions alongside Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin of Mainstay Entertainment, and Lupita Nyong’o herself.
Released in 2016, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood has spent 26 weeks on the bestseller list and won the James Thurber Prize for American Humor and two NAACP Image Awards.
