Danny Boyle is MGM’s Top Choice to Direct ‘Bond 25’

With Daniel Craig on board to return for one last James Bond adventure, MGM is looking for a big name director to helm the next film in the franchise.

According to Variety, the studio’s first choice is Oscar winner Danny Boyle. He was previously on the short list for Skyfall and Spectre, which were both directed by Sam Mendes. He has already said he was moving on to projects away from the Bond franchise.

MGM’s financial troubles have seen a delay in the start of pre-production on Bond 25, but now appears the studio is ready to move full steam ahead.

Boyle is currently in development for something with Working Title, but that project is in the very early stages and could be rescheduled if he signs on for Bond 25.

His next project is the FX limited series Trust, which premieres March 25. The story follows the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III.
