Chris McKay Is In Negotiations To Direct A “Dungeons & Dragons” Adaptation

Director Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) is in talks with Paramount and AllSpark Pictures to direct the film adaptation of the popular game Dungeons & Dragons with a script from Michael Gilio (Kwik Stop) and produced by Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis.

This film adaptation will serve as one of the first projects to go into production for the newly created AllSpark Pictures from Hasbro, who launched the production company last October in aims to rival Marvel Studios.

The film has been in development for quite some time but between lawsuits for characters’ rights with Sweetpea Entertainment and Hasbro, things haven’t been able to move forward until 2015 when the settlement was finalized and Hasbro moved the project from Warner Bros. to Paramount and AllSpark once the company was created.

On his part, McKay has been high on various studios’ lists since his work with The Lego Batman Movie, right now developing the Nightwing solo film for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, while being an exec producer on The Lego Sequel, currently under production.
