Suraj Sharma and Javicia Leslie Cast in CBS TV Pilot ‘God Friended Me’

Javicia Leslie and Suraj Sharma have been set as series regulars in CBS’s God Friended Me, a light hourlong procedural written by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt and directed by Marcos Siega.

God Friended Me is described as a humorous, uplifting series, which explores questions of faith, existence, and science. The show centers on an outspoken athiest whose life is turned upside down when he is “friended” by God on Facebook. As a result, he becomes an agent of change in the lives of those around him.

Leslie will play bright, compassionate, and opinionated Ali Finer. As Miles’ younger sister, she is always in his corner for encouragement and blunt insight, as well as working on her PhD in psychology.

Suraj-Sharma

Sharma will be portraying Rakesh Sehgal, who is Miles’ good- natured, funny, and likeable co-worker and best friend. As a video game enthusiast, coder, and hacker, he assists Miles and Cara research the God account.

Lilien and Wynbrandt will executive produce along with Siega and Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions.

Leslie currently has a recurring role on CBS’ MacGyver and is repped by Stewart Talent and Thirdhill Entertainment. Sharma recurred on Showtime’s Homeland and appeared in the feature Life of Pi. He is repped by CAA.
