‘Black Panther’ Slashes Box Office Records And Heads Toward A $218 Million 4-Day Opening

Black Panther has just earned one of the highest openings of all time, raking in an estimated $192 million dollars at the North American box office this weekend and will likely wrap up the four-day long weekend with a whopping $218 million plus.

Not only did the latest entry from the MCU bring in even more money than the previously tracked $170 million, but it has blown up overseas as well bringing in $169 million. This brings the film’s global box office tally to $387 million.

Directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed), Black Panther now has the fifth biggest domestic opening of all time and sets the record for the biggest opening by an African-American director.
