Netflix’s Sabrina Series Casts Wonder Woman’s Lucy Davis as Aunt Hilda
Netflix’s still untitled Sabrina series has tapped Wonder Woman actress Lucy Davis to play the role of Aunt Hilda. Davis’ casting places her opposite series lead, Kiernan Shipka. The news comes via a Deadline report, which describes Davis’ role as one of the two aunts as follows,
More nurturing than Zelda, Hilda’s motherly nature and warm sense of humor belie a wicked, ghoulish streak. She is as adept at brewing spite jars against her family’s enemies as she is at concocting love potions for the students at Baxter High.
This version of Sabrina’s story will differ from what audiences are familiar with when compared to the ABC/WB series, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The Netflix show is expected to bear a tone similar to that of Rosemary’s Baby.
Riverdale showrunner and Archie Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will produce the series for Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions. At this time, additional details and a release date remain under wraps.
