Legendary Entertainment lands spec “Hustle” from LeBron James and Roth/Kirschenbaum Films

According to Variety, Following a massive bidding war between four different studios Legendary Entertainment has landed the spec screenplay “Hustle” which will produced by LeBron James’ Springhill Entertainment and Roth/Kirschenbaum Films and the film was penned by writer Taylor Materne.

Legendary hip-hop director Dave Meyers will direct the film. Meyers is notably known for the direction of “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar, which he has recently received a grammy for.

The project centers around a basketball scout who discovers an incredible Chinese streetball player and see it as his opportunity back in to recruiting the in NBA. The Chinese basketball player is the swooped up in all of the hype that comes along with becoming a pro and must deal with being away from his home and his family.

Roth/Kirschenbaum Films realized that Lebron James’ star power is perfect for the film and passed the script off to Springhill Entertainment for his knowledge and expertise in the professional basketball industry.
