Tessa Thompson Set to Portray Doris Payne in Heist Film
Fresh off her scene-stealing performance as the Valkyrie, Brunnhilde in Thor: Ragnarok, along with an upcoming role in HBO’s Westworld, Tessa Thompson is set to take on the role of famed jewelry heist mastermind, Doris Payne.
According to Variety, the film will be a high-concept action-drama along the lines of Catch Me, If You Can and The Thomas Crown Affair.
Thompson is also set to produce the currently untitled film with Codeblack Films’, Jeff Clanagan with Candice Wilson overseeing the project.
Thompson took to Twitter to describe her elation about the project which she’d been keeping under wraps for a while. Check out the tweet below:

Payne gained notoriety for her international jewelry theft career which spanned six decades. The subject of a 2013 documentary titled, The Life and Times of Doris Payne, the now 87-year-old described the details of her crimes, beginning at her youth, up to her arrest in 2011.
With a criminal record dating back to the 1950s, Payne admitted to using 20 aliases, 10 social security numbers and nine dates of birth.
