With pilot season in full swing, casting news about some of the most anticipated projects is rolling out.

New Girl co-star Hannah Simone has been cast as the lead in ABC’s updated The Greatest American Hero.

She plays Meera “a 30-year-old woman who loves tequila and karaoke and has spent her life searching and failing to find meaning, much to the chagrin of her traditional Indian-American family. An inexplicable event occurs that will change the course of Meera’s life forever: she is entrusted with a super suit to protect the planet. Meera may have finally found purpose, but the world has never been in more unreliable hands.”

The series is based on the 1981 cult favorite that follows teacher Ralph (William Katt) when he finds an alien super suit, but loses the instruction manual. With the help of his girlfriend and FBI agent partner, he saves the day while comically figuring out the suit.

Simone will return in April as New Girl’s Cece for its final season.

  1. I am truly going to show my age with this comment…but meh who cares once a g.o.c. always one right…the original GAH was one of my favorite shows as a kid even though it didn’t last that long with a classic theme song to boot lol…I hope they do it justice in their own way…
