With the opening night of the MCU’s next film Black Panther, only a few days away, there’s been an update on the movie’s box office tracking.
Currently boasting an impressive ‘certified fresh’ score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, Black Panther is now tracking to rake in an estimated $170 million over the weekend in North America.
Previously, Black Panther was tracking for an estimated $100 to $120 million opening weekend domestically, but with the first impressions and rave reviews now released, it seems to have propelled the superhero flick to an even bigger box office number.

Last week, it was reported that Black Panther was pacing to be Fandango’s top pre-seller amongst superhero films, as well as outpacing all other pre-sales for first quarter films. Additionally, IMAX CEO Greg Forster told Variety, that Black Panther was already the biggest seller of advance IMAX tickets of any Marvel film.
As far as February films go, Deadpool holds the record for the month’s top opening, having pulled in $152.2 million when it opened in February of 2016. As it stands right now, Black Panther looks poised to take the title.
