Netflix has been striking an abundance of deals recently, and it can add sci-fi thriller Extinction to the list. After Universal dropped Extinction from their schedule, Netflix swooped in to acquire the rights.

The movie follows a father (Michael Pena), who has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Fighting for their lives, he comes to realize an unknown strength to keep them safe from harm.

The movie also stars Lizzy Caplan (Now You See Me 2), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Lilly Aspell (Wonder Woman), Emma Booth (Gods of Egypt), Israel Broussard (Happy Death Day) and Lex Shrapnel (Medici: Masters of Florence).

Ben Young (Hounds of Love) directed the film, with Spenser Cohen and Bradley Caleb Kane, are credited for the scripts. Netflix plans to release the film sometime this year.
