‘The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle’ Adds Michael Sheen, Antonio Banderas
The latest on-screen version of Doctor Doolittle is adding some big names to its cast.
The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle is already set to star Robert Downey Jr. in the title role, and now Antonio Banderas is joining the film as Pirate Rassouli, the doctor’s antagonist. Michael Sheen is also in talks to play his sidekick Mudfly.
Doctor Doolittle is the story of John Doolittle, a doctor who can talk to animals.
Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes and Tom Holland are all onboard to voice some of the movie’s animal patients.
Oscar winner Stephen Gaghan (Syriana, Traffic) is directing and writing with Thomas Shepherd.
The character was previously featured in a film series starring Eddie Murphy and China Anne McClain. This project is said to be a more faithful adaptation of the Hugh Lofting books.
The film may begin production later this month for a April 2019 release.
