‘Coco’ Becomes Seventh Pixar Film to Pass $700 Million at Worldwide Box Office
Coco continues its impressive road to success, becoming the latest Disney/Pixar movie to cross $700 million at the global box office.
The film’s total now stands at $700.9 million worldwide, putting it at seventh place among Pixar movies. It’s around $35 million behind Up, so it has a chance at the sixth spot.
Coco has made $204 million domestically and $496 million overseas, so it will likely pass $500 million in international markets this week.
The film follows Miguel as he chases his dreams of becoming a singer across the backdrop of the Day of the Dead celebration.
In addition to its box office success, the movie has also racked up a lot of awards. It recently won 11 Annie Awards including animated feature, directing, writing, production design, music and editing. It is nominated for best animated feature at the Academy Awards and BAFTAs.
Up next for Pixar is The Incredibles 2, which hits theaters June 15.
