Nintendo Announces a New ‘Mario Kart’ For Mobile
Following a string of successful mobile game releases (and a lot of impressive announcements this week), Nintendo has just announced that it will be releasing a Mario Kart game for mobile phones, called Mario Kart Tour.
No details have been released on the game yet, and if you were hoping for a specific date, you’re out of luck. Nintendo announced that the game will be released next fiscal year, which means it could come out anywhere between this April and May of 2019.

If you’re worried about the quality of the game, don’t fret! As one of Nintendo’s most popular IPs, the Mario Kart franchise has been killing it for its last several iterations, which includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch, which has sold a whopping 7.33 million copies since last April, not including the copies from the game’s Wii U version.
If Mario Kart Tour is anything like Miitomo or Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, it’ll potentially be free, maybe offer upgrades and certain characters for paying customers. Resisting paying for items in these two apps was relatively easy, but the temptation might be too much on a Mario Kart title.
