Tom Hanks will Portray Mr. Rogers in Biopic ‘You Are My Friend’
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and we all have wanted a neighbor like Mr. Rogers. Known prominently for his iconic television show Mister Rogers Neighborhood on PBS that spanned across generations, Mr. Rogers has touched many lives throughout his career. Now, a biopic is in the works to portray his life and amazing work and the iconic man will be portrayed by an iconic actor: Tom Hanks.

The biopic, titled You Are My Friend, has been acquired by TriStar Pictures. Director Marielle Heller is on board for this take with a screenplay written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster. The feature is set to start filming later this year in September.
Tom Hanks previously played another iconic man who has touched many children’s (and adults’) lives: Walt Disney. From playing the magical creator, Hanks will now be your friendly neighbor.
