The Venom movie began filming in October and much of the film has been kept under wraps, with few set photos, official photos, and casting announcements. In addition, Tom Hardy has announced that the Venom film will be based on the Venom: Lethal Protector comic book miniseries written by David Michelinie and drawn by Mark Bagley, Ron Lim, and Sam Delarosa.

The film will be part of Sony’s superhero universe that mostly deal with Spider-Man characters such as their upcoming film Silver and Black and this upcoming Venom film. Despite the connections to Spider-Man, Kevin Feige has confirmed that Tom Holland as Spider-Man will not appear in the upcoming Venom film.

Venom is slated to release on October 5, 2018.
