Fresh off her Academy Award nomination for The Big Sick, Emily V. Gordon is now writing the script for Amazon feature The Nest.
Based on Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s book, the film follows the dysfunctional Plumb family. After years of simmering tensions that finally reach a boiling point, Melody, Beatrice, and Jack Plumb gather to confront their charismatic and reckless older brother, Leo, whose actions have endangered the family trust fund.
Gordon was nominated for best original screenplay with her co-writer and husband Kumail Nanjiani for the movie based on the story about the early days of their romance.
Jill Soloway (Transparent) is producing with Andrea Sperling, while Carly Kahane executive produces.
Gordon and Nanjiani have also received nominations for the Independent Spirit Awards and from the Writer’s Guild.
The Big Sick was released by Amazon Studios, which means it will likely be available for streaming by the studio.
