ABC Orders Pilot for ‘Get Christie Love’ Reboot Starring Kylie Bunbury
ABC is jumping on the 70s revival bandwagon with a reboot of the 1974 series Get Christie Love! It has given a pilot order to the updated show.
The series is a music-driven one-hour drama that centers on Christie Love, played by Kylie Bunbury (Pitch), an African-American female CIA agent who leads an elite ops unit. She transforms into whomever she needs to be to get the job done, especially when it’s down to the wire and the stakes are life and death.
Courtney A. Kemp has been tapped as showrunner and will executive produce with Debra Martin Chase, Vin Diesel and Shana C. Waterman.
The original starred Teresa Graves as undercover detective Christie Love. She was the first African-American woman to star in an hour-long drama.
The show was inspired by films like Cleopatra Jones, which is also getting a remake, along with Superfly and another Shaft starring Samuel L. Jackson and Richard Roundtree.

I have absolutely no faith at all in anything playing on regular network tv. I’m going to watch the pilot to support it, but I’m not getting attached to it because I expect it to fail. The reason these shows fail on NBC,ABC, and CBS, is because the audiences they’re reaching for are old and white, so they can’t be TOO daring or edgy on any of their shows. Most younger audiences have moved to cable and Netflix for relevant viewing.
It’s one of the reasons CBS didn’t put the new Discovery on their network. Its too dark and doesn’t fit in with any of their other, more milder programming.
